Freshwater Cage Culture Environmental Forum - Sudbury, Ontario 2005
The Northern Ontario Aquaculture Association in conjunction with the Department of
Fisheries and Oceans organized and hosted a 'Freshwater Cage Culture
Environmental Forum" in 2005. Invitees included representatives from the public,
industry, government agencies with regulatory responsibilities, and the scientific
research community. The purpose was to have all interested parties in the same
room at the same time, and to exchange the most up to date research information
regarding the effects of cage-based aquaculture. The purpose was open, honest
information exchange. The 2005 Forum was a huge success and updated research
information will been presented at a second scheduled for February of 2009.
